James Fisher Mimic (JFM) has received a special commendation award from BAE Systems Submarines (BAE) for outstanding performance, professionalism and support.
The award came as part of the annual All Suppliers Forum event, held by BAE. The event is attended by all companies that play a role in the supply chain of the Astute class submarines being built at the BAE yard in Barrow in Furness on behalf of the UK Royal Navy.
All suppliers are assessed by BAE and those judged to have made the greatest contribution against their criteria receive an award.
JFM’s flagship product, Mimic, provides vessel owners and operators with live decision making data relating to asset condition and operational efficiency. However, the JFM team adapted the Mimic software specifically for the Astute class submarine so it could reside within its platform management system environment without compromising the security required to operate these highly technical and complex vessels.
This project was the latest milestone in a long-standing partnership between BAE and Mimic – the team had previously installed Mimic systems on the three other Astute class submarines built over the last ten years. However this award specifically highlighted work on the modifications required for the latest vessel.
Following this success JFM is continuing discussions with BAE about providing a similar solution for the remaining three Astute class submarines that are currently being supplied by BAE to the Royal Navy.
On receiving the award, Martin Briddon, JFM’s business development manager said:
‘The Astute programme is an important asset to the defence of the UK, and it is a privilege to know our products add to the overall safe operation of the vessel and sailors on board.’
Paul Mount, general manager of JFM added:
‘We are all delighted and immensely proud to receive this award which is testament to the high level of professionalism and customer focus we set ourselves every day.’
